Community Partnerships Make For A Stronger Community

Thank you BHCU for sponsoring my participation in Project W Delaware County this year. What is Project W? It is an inspiring group of women who created a giving circle that harnesses the power of collective giving to address the needs of women in Delaware County.

This year marks their 4th giving cycle. The organization considered 31 excellent grant applications that are all worthy of funding. Unfortunately, only four could be selected. The selected project details are below, but first I highly recommend that you learn more about this organization and its work. I look forward to continuing with them in their 5th year!!!

Last night, after hearing inspiring presentations from our grantees, our members voted to select the organization to receive the top grant of $30,000.  

Here are the results.

$30,000 to Making A Change Group which is dedicated to empowering youth, strengthening families, and serving as a community connector in Chester, PA, and its surrounding townships. 

 

$12,000 to African Family Health Organization which provides culturally sensitive health, human and educational services to African and Caribbean immigrants and refugees (ACIR) in the greater Philadelphia area.

$12,000 to the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology which is assisting non-traditional college students to achieve a degree in allied sciences and secure a job in healthcare thereby significantly improving their own and their family's financial security.

 

$6,000 to Centro de Apoyo Comunitario founded by local Latina immigrant women, nurtures the strong sense of community within Delaware County’s immigrant population and empowers mutual support.
